aiflower

Private herbarium · Android

A herbarium for the plants you actually own.

Det. 3 AI harness

What it does

Three jobs, and it does not pretend to do a fourth.

Names what you photographed

Point the camera at a plant. The AI harness returns a species and a starter care plan — water, fertilize, repot — with intervals where they make sense.

Tells you what needs you first

Every plant carries its own schedule and the collection sorts itself by it: fine, coming due, overdue.

Reads a plant that looks wrong

Photograph one that's struggling. The harness reads the photo against everything already on file for that plant, then adds the concrete next actions.

How it works

A plant's file is a stack, not a field.

A herbarium never erases an identification. A later botanist adds a determination slip on top, dated and signed, and the earlier ones stay underneath. aiflower keeps a plant the same way — so a guess that turned out wrong can be read back instead of quietly trusted.

    Add the plant

A nickname, and a note if you have one. It gets a colour of its own, picked from the herbarium's range, and it keeps that colour for the life of the collection.

    Photograph it

The harness names the species and drafts the starter plan. It is a first determination, and it is labelled as one — the app never shows you a schedule without showing you who decided it.

    Correct it

The starter plan is a guess and your windowsill is not. Change an interval when the plant tells you otherwise. Your revision supersedes the harness's — it does not erase it.

Photograph it again when it looks wrong

Scorched edges, in August, on a south window. The harness reads the photo against the plant's own file — every earlier determination included — and adds what to do about it.

Where it lives

One account, one collection, and a door out of it.

Your plants are yours alone
An account is an email, a password and the town you keep them in — no card, no verification mail, nothing to buy. Your plants are reachable from your account and from nothing else, and deleting the account takes every photograph with it, off the disk as well as out of the database.
Or run the whole thing yourself
The API is Bun, Hono and Postgres, with the gallery stored on disk and addressed by the hash of its contents. Point the app at your own and nothing above changes.
The collection works with the API unreachable
The Android app reads from its own local database first and syncs behind that, so your plants and their schedules are there on a train, in a greenhouse, or when the server is down.
Every AI call is on file
The prompt, the raw response and the summary are all recorded against the plant. That is what makes the stack above possible, and what makes a bad read something you can go and read.
The AI is configuration, not code
The harness is a command-line tool the API runs per request; both the binary and the model are settings. Point it at a different one and it takes effect on restart, not on a release.
